How to Reduce Bias in UX

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

What do chatbots, conversational interfaces, voice UI, and digital experiences have in common? Bias. Voice UI works 13% better for male voices than female. Automatic soap dispensers don’t recognize dark skin.  These types of racism and bias exist in all sorts of digital products. The reason is clear: an algorithm, AI, or product is only as strong as the strategy, taxonomy, and user testing that creates it.

In order to develop user experiences that are delightful, they must first be unbiased. In this session, attendees will learn to reduce bias through the people they hire to develop products, and the ways in which teas test and create the initial content. We’ll review concrete tactics for developing unbiased products and user experiences.
