Have you ever joined a concept review meeting only to find that the attendees forwarded the meeting invitation to 10 other colleagues you haven’t met?

Have you ever realized a bit too late that what you had been calling ‘information architecture’ your colleague understood to mean visual workflows?

As lead UX designers and researchers working for a consultancy, we’re often managing a wide set of internal and external stakeholders from multidisciplinary backgrounds and with varied understanding of and exposure to the design process. It can be difficult to engage and communicate with the team members in a manner that is efficient, achieves the necessary buy-in, and leads to successful outcomes for the user and business.

This talk aims to cover helpful tools, strategies, and considerations for addressing common challenges when managing the UX process for a diverse team. We’ll provide specific examples of challenges we’ve faced through project case studies, and ideas for solutions to avoid and/or manage these challenges when they arise.

These insights are intended to help lead UX designers feel empowered to manage the design process within their project teams and organization.
